flatten the curve. social distancing. shelter in place.

Virtually unknown to most of us just six months ago, these phrases now resonate with all urgency of the pandemic that has so significantly impacted our world. Prudence has defined our lives. They’ve kept us unwillingly in our homes, limited social interaction, and forced us to forgo even simple things like handshakes and hugs.

The sense of lockdown fatigue is real. It’s no surprise that with summer holidays approaching in the northern half of the globe, many people - including me - are eager for the chance to relax and recharge.

The recent prudent behavior has paid off in most places. Summer holidays are an option. Unfortunately, we’re not out of the woods yet. We’ll get there, but it’s going to demand a little more time and attention from all of us. So whether you’re staying home or packing up the family and traveling to the mountains or the sea, let’s continue to exercise caution for our own safety and the safety of others.

Take time to slow down and enjoy life more than you might have been able to recently. Let’s do so wisely and with an eye to making this summer a happy and healthy one for us all.
