Randstad CEO Jacques van den Broek contributes to the session ‘A New Production Revolution’ at the OECD Forum, held June 2 & 3 in Paris.
Fundamental shifts, such as globalization, political and economic volatility, an aging population, new technologies, and changing attitudes to work, are changing the world. Jobs are disappearing in one industry, and being created in another, while changing in nature at the same time, making ‘mismatch’ the core issue for the coming decades.
Skills mismatch is mainly the outcome of structural rigidities in labor markets, but it is also influenced by cyclical gaps between demand and supply. We need to enable people to develop new skills, required to survive in the new world of work. This is not only the responsibility of the individual but also of companies, educational institutes, governments and policy makers.
Randstad is a sponsor of the OECD Forum. Held in Paris each May to coincide with the annual OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, the OECD Forum has emerged as a major international stakeholder summit. Leaders from all sectors of civil society gather to debate the most pressing social and economic challenges confronting society. Since its creation in 2000, more than 18,000 people have exchanged ideas and experiences.
At the OECD forum Randstad presents its latest annual labor market report Flexibility@work. all of our reports can be found here.
