Randstad is proud to place the 100th volunteer in the VSO partnership, sharing professional expertise and skills to support VSO projects all over the world. The 100th Randstad volunteer is Chantal van Marwijk, currently on assignment in Zanzibar, Tanzania, providing IT support to the Jambiani Tourism Training Institue. At Randstad, Chantal works as a senior IT specialist in I-bridge's internet development team in the Netherlands.
We are very happy to report 100 Randstad employees have volunteered for a VSO assignment since the start of our partnership in 2004. Together we enhance VSO's reach across the globe and increase its ability to recruit volunteers for placements in developing countries. Randstad supports VSO by recruiting professionals interested in volunteer work, strengthening VSO's core processes, fundraising and encouraging our own employees to volunteer their time overseas as well as in their home countries.
Harnessing the skills and expertise of the corporate sector to stimulate development and empower people in some of the poorest parts of the world is fundamental to VSO's work and over the years we have successfully developed long-term strategic partnerships with companies like Randstad. Randstad staff have been deployed on 6-week to 12–month assignments to support VSO's work in key areas of disability, education, health, HIV/AIDS, participation & governance and secure livelihoods. Not only have they made an impact in developing countries, they have also acquired valuable skills through their volunteering experiences that benefit Randstad's business in the long run.
During her assignment Chantal van Marwijk will assess the existing IT training needs for JTTI staff, update the website, write an IT manual and train people in how to use internet and free marketing tools.
