POSITION PURPOSEThe Wholesale & Business Development Manager, Japan will work within the local Japan team while closely collaborating with the regional Asia wholesale team, assisting in the brand appropriate growth of Aesop within the wholesale channels in Japan.Working with the Regional Wholesale & Business Development Manager, Asia the Wholesale & Business Development Manager, Japan will build strong and meaningful relationships across the wide spectrum of Wholesale Customers, building the brand and driving continued growth aligned with Aesop’s brand positioning and philosophy. The customer base will include multi-brand retailers, online retailers, department stores, amenity customers including hotels, F&B and other hospitality venues and B2B corporate customers. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES・Take ownership of building the wholesale strategy in Japan relevant to the Global/Regional strategy and ensure all relevant internal stakeholders are aligned.・Build customer relationships, ensure regular business review meetings are scheduled, organise and lead the meetings and report on outcomes and next steps.・Where relevant, develop joint business plans with key customers.・Build annual budgets and forecasts.・Deliver sales to budget and control spend.・Negotiating space and locations with customers.・Agreeing and negotiating commercial terms.・Analyze data, track business performance and identify issues and opportunities.・Identify and understand potential new revenue streams and customers, presenting opportunities internally and building the case for opening new distribution where appropriate.・Work cross functionally with marketing, visual merchandising, training, supply chain operations, finance, and other teams to ensure customers have a full 360 growth plan that is supported by the other parts of the business.・Be an active team member and assist / coach and motivate others.・Lead and influence team members.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
・Experience managing premium / luxury consumer goods within multi-brand retailer accounts in Japan.
・Account management skills and an ability to demonstrate success in driving growth through building relationships and influencing.
・Strong analytical skills combined with an ability to use data to build growth strategies.
・Hands-on, practical problem solving and an ability to communicate ideas and escalate internally when needed.
・An ability to think strategically and fully understand the longer-term brand impact of decisions.
・Strong negotiation skills.
・Experience within premium beauty/cosmetics/fashion and lifestyle a strong advantage.
・Experience working with both physical and digital customers desired.
・Experience with Travel Retail an advantage.
・An ability to deal with ambiguity in a growth organization with a unique culture.
・An international mindset and a desire to work within a global thinking team / organization.
・Fluency in English language is require
