The primary focus of this role will be to process and gather information to support the assessment and decision making in relation to applications.
The Assessment Officer will be a strategic thinker who is able to develop and implement a range of new processes and work across multiple small and larger projects simultaneously. The position is responsible for working with a range of stakeholders. It will require the ability to build, communicate with, and maintain sensitive relationships with all stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including supporting the development and delivery of projects or sub-projects and their successful delivery and completion within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Support the development and implementation of robust processes and procedures to implement the tasks and deliver high quality services and supports.
- Assist in providing advice to stakeholders and assist in the preparation and presentation of reports, briefs, and correspondence on a range of matters.
- Maintain an understanding of Victorian, national and international legislative and policy reform directions relevant to issues arising from other redress schemes.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department’s records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department’s ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
- Provide specialist administrative and corporate support expertise.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

- Demonstrated experience in building, communicating with and maintaining positive and sensitive relationships with individuals in a sensitive and trauma-informed way, and working with subject matter that can be distressing and emotionally challenging is expected.
- A high level of proficiency across a range of departmental platforms, systems, and IT software is expected.
- Experience in one of the following areas is highly desirable: assisting to develop and implement operational procedures, undertaking and recording assessment processes.
- Ability to undergo a National Police Check clearance.
