About the Role
As a Mainframe Test Analyst, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans to validate mainframe applications written in COBOL. Collaborating closely with development teams, you will identify potential issues, document results, and ensure seamless functionality and performance of critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for mainframe applications written in COBOL.
- Design and perform manual and automated tests, including integration and system-level testing.
- Document test results and report defects using appropriate tools and processes.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve issues and enhance application quality.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure alignment with testing standards.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in mainframe testing and COBOL programming.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in mainframe testing, focusing on COBOL applications.
- Strong knowledge of mainframe testing methodologies and COBOL programming.
- Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Micro Focus ALM.
- Experience in mainframe test automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and mainframe modernisation projects.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mainframe applications.
- Knowledge of other programming languages, such as Java or Python.
- Experience with mainframe vitalisation technologies, such as z/VM or z/OS LPARs.
