The Technical Service Manager focuses primarily on supporting customers, spending a majority of their time on customer-related activities. In collaboration with Sales, the role drives initiatives and projects that meet contribution targets for the current fiscal year and prepares for sales beyond it. They play a key part in enhancing business development by strengthening technical relationships with target accounts and ensuring alignment with the client’s goals.
This role involves working closely with sales and marketing to establish strategic partnerships with key customer contacts, understanding competitor technologies, and articulating the value of the client’s products to specific markets. The manager oversees technical project execution across various internal departments, ensuring technical solutions meet customer needs. They are responsible for formulation modifications, interfacing with R&D, and supporting the development and commercialization of new products or services, often collaborating with customers or third-party partners.
Additionally, the Technical Service Manager supports manufacturing by addressing quality issues and maintaining detailed expertise in the client’s products and services. They monitor market trends, contribute to industry committees, and collaborate with external research bodies to drive innovation. The role includes educating internal teams and customers about the client’s technologies and initiating lab projects to improve product formulations based on customer requirements.
skills and experience required
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, coupled with at least 6 years of experience in technical sales or services. They are proficient in IT tools such as Microsoft Office and SAP, which help them stay organized and efficient. This individual is also adaptable to working within diverse cultural environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, allowing the candidate to effectively engage with both colleagues and clients. They must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges and provide practical solutions. The role demands both independence and teamwork, ensuring that the candidate can collaborate effectively while managing their responsibilities autonomously.
