At the department of Operations - Downstream Processing (DSP), we produce monoclonal antibodies on a large scale for the treatment of several auto-immune diseases. Continuous optimization of production processes is vital. The following processes are being used at DSP: column chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, filtration, virus removal step and in process testing (e.g. HPLC, OD280, pH, conductivity, osmolarity).

who are you
You are a motivated student with excellent communication skills who can deal with ambiguity in a fast-changing environment. You are eager to learn, team-oriented and pro-active.
- You are a master’s student at a university in the Netherlands, preferably in the second year of your program;
- You are following a MSc study in Biotechnology, Life Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Bio-medical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology or related;
- You are available for at least 6 months;
- You are willing to work at least 4 days a week from the Leiden office;
what will you do
The project will be on either business innovation or process - improvements. It’s a real hands-on experience and on the shop floor where the real magic happens. We will give you the opportunity to try, fail succeed and learn with constant feedback and coaching. These are the areas of the internship program:
- Project management: you will be exposed to and lead one or more real process improvement projects (e.g. cycle time reduction, automation project, modeling projects using SuperPro) that will have a tangible impact on our business. You will be guided o
- Data analytics and visualization: you will be trained in using key data analysis and visualization tools to analysis large sets of data to build business cases and identify key opportunities for the business and/or simplify existing tasks, processes
- Documentation: you will be officially trained on real GMP documentation which will allow you to perform documentation tasks that are the foundation of everything we do in a highly regulated environment and this will allow you to be ready to enter the
- Communication enhancement projects: improve internal communication between the shop floor and management.
