I am working exclusively with a financial services organisation. We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a focus on Java playing a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of applications or systems that are built using Java technologies. Focusing on Java means the SRE will have specific expertise in managing, optimising, and maintaining Java-based applications and infrastructure.
Here's a breakdown of the key responsibilities and tasks for an SRE with a focus on Java:
Application Performance Monitoring & Optimization, Incident Management & Troubleshooting, Reliability Engineering Practices, Automation and Scripting, Security and Compliance, Tooling and Process Improvement.
- Profile and monitor Java applications using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or Datadog to collect performance metrics (e.g., memory usage, response times, garbage collection activity, etc.)...
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in Java code or JVM performance (Java Virtual Machine), including analysing thread dumps, heap dumps, and garbage collection logs.
- Optimise Java code for better performance and memory management (e.g., tuning JVM parameters, optimising multithreading).
