My client are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Critical Shift Lead Maintenance Engineer to oversee and manage the maintenance operations of a high-stakes financial services data centre. As the Shift Lead, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of all critical systems, ensuring business continuity in this mission-critical environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of critical shift engineers, ensuring tasks are assigned, executed, and documented effectively.
- Act as the main point of contact for all technical escalations and emergencies during your shift.
- Conduct shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of completed and outstanding tasks.
- Oversee the maintenance of critical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC, and data centre cooling systems.
- Monitor and manage Building Management Systems (BMS) to optimize performance.
- Writing switching schedules for maintenance engineers and acting as the designated authorised person on-site.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations, data centre protocols, and client-specific standards.
- Produce detailed incident reports, maintenance logs, and shift summaries for management review.
- Provide swift and effective resolutions to faults and system issues to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate and manage emergency scenarios, including power outages, equipment failures, and critical alarms.
- Mentor and train junior team members, ensuring high skill levels within the team.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and implement best practices within the team.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition (Electrical Engineers) or relevant mechanical certifications.
- HVAP (High Voltage Authorised Person) certification or willingness to undertake training.
- Extensive experience maintaining and troubleshooting critical systems in a data centre, financial, or high-resilience environment.
- Proven experience in team leadership or supervisory roles.
