Position: Full-Time SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Near Ely, Cambridgeshire
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90 per day
Driving Required: Due to the location of the school, candidates must have access to their own transport as there is no public transport available.
The Role :
We are looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming SEN School based near Ely, providing support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. In this role, you will work closely with students who need additional help to succeed and build their confidence in a supportive environment. As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide support with literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects, using appropriate resources or methods. You will also support students in managing and improving their behaviour by using positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
This is a fantastic opportunity to help students develop coping strategies to deal with anxiety, frustration, or other emotional challenges.

Your Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN/SEMH.
- Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Assist in maintaining classroom order, fostering a positive and stimulating learning atmosphere.
- Establish effective communication with parents, teachers, and external professionals.
- Regularly monitor and evaluate the academic and social progress of students with SEN.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to accommodate diverse learning needs.
Requirements:
- Experience working or volunteering with SEND children (preferably with autism/ADHD experience).
- Strong behaviour management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Caring and empathetic personality.
- Commitment to safeguarding children.
- A DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
