The Senior Product Owner is responsible for building and maintaining the Air Canada’s Mobile application backlog for day-of-travel products and will work closely with the Senior Product Manager to oversee the development life cycle. They should be able to identify workable recommendations and clearly document solutions to complex issues. In addition, they will lead, mentor, and lend their expertise directly to Product Owners on the team.
The successful individual must be customer-centric and have a passion for the travel industry, creating digital experiences, and must be comfortable working in a high-paced, high-energy, collaborative environment with a focus on a continuous product delivery model.
The contract length for this maternity leave replacement is for a 12-month period.
Responsibilities
- Management of Mobile day-of-travel products (e.g. boarding pass issuance and management, customer journey mapping, digital identification, lounge eligibility, etc.)
- Build the backlog of user stories, create, and prioritize features within the backlog
- Collaborate with designers, developers, and quality assurance to ensure stories meet the definition of done
- Work as a primary point of contact on requirement elaboration, user story review, and story acceptance criteria
- Work closely with internal (e.g. Airports, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal & Loyalty teams) and external stakeholders to deliver valuable features
- Coordinate with other Product Owners and Product Managers to ensure dependencies are accounted for and enablers are properly prioritized
- Work with the Senior Product Manager on program planning and roadmap
- Proactively identify potential challenges and develop actionable, relevant recommendations to effectively address them
Qualifications
- A University degree in Business, Commerce or Computer Sciences, or relevant experience commensurate to the role
- 3 to 7 years experience in delivering digital experiences
- Experience working in an Agile/continuous delivery model is a must
- High-level knowledge and/or understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) serverless stack including AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, and AWS AppSync is strongly desired
- Strong understanding of mobile technologies and trends
- Good time management, organizational and planning skills
- Strong communication skills – written and spoken
- Innovative and creative with the ability to identify and document solutions to complex problems
- Prior experience with building consumer facing digital experiences
- Airline or travel industry experience a plus, but not required
- Experience with the Amadeus Altéa Suite of Passenger Service Applications (i.e. CM & ARDWeb) a plus, but not required
- Prior experience with quality assurance a plus, but not required
