Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
-Administer and maintain employee benefits plans, addressing payroll and benefits inquiries.
-Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and compensation schedules for budget and management reporting.
-Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200+ employees, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
-Update employee records, including new hires, terminations, and personal information changes.
-Calculate and process travel allowances for eligible employees.
-Reconcile payroll outputs and handle statutory and non-statutory remittances (e.g., EHT, Pension, Union Dues, WSIB).
-Cross-train finance colleagues to ensure smooth department operations.
-Prepare year-end reports, including T4s, EHT, and WSIB reconciliations.
-Maintain schedules of prepaid expenses and assist with statistical report preparation.
-Attend staff meetings and actively contribute to a culture of safety, adhering to all organizational health and safety practices.
-Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Minimum five years of relevant accounting experience.
Post-secondary education in Accounting/Finance or 2nd-3rd year CPA enrolment.
Strong proficiency with Dayforce payroll; Microsoft Suite products, primarily Excel and Word; and QuickBooks.
Professional attitude, self-starter with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
-Certified Payroll Manager or Payroll Compliance Practitioner is an asset.
-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
-Excellent priority management and time management skills.
-Working knowledge of Alayacare is an asset.
-Experience with a complex payroll structure.
-Ability to work well under pressure utilizing effective problem management skills.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Clear Criminal Background Check.
