Our client has an urgent need for a Senior Land Resource Officer. This is a part-time contract role until December 2027, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. The requirement is for 32 hours per week and these hours can be managed with flexibility to suit personal circumstances for the successful applicant.
The role is responsible for providing expert advice and support in land resource management to ensure the sustainable use of natural resources in line with departmental objectives and legislative requirements. This includes monitoring, analysis, and planning to maintain the health and productivity of land resources across Queensland.
The Senior Land Resource Officer will:
... - Develop and implement land resource management strategies to address challenges such as land degradation, soil health, and sustainable land use practices.
- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding best practices in land resource management and policy implementation.
- Conduct field investigations and analysis to assess the condition and sustainability of land resources.
- Collaborate with other government agencies, industries, and communities to promote sustainable land use and resource management.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, briefing notes, and presentations to support decision-making processes.
- Lead or participate in projects and initiatives aimed at improving land management practices and outcomes.
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate extensive experience in land resource management, including policy development, program delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
- Exhibit a deep understanding of land management principles, practices, and legislation relevant to Queensland.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply these to complex environmental and resource management challenges.
- Show proficiency in using GIS and other analytical tools for resource planning and monitoring.
- Illustrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare detailed reports and deliver presentations.
- Display a track record of building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government, industry, and community groups.
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Possess a current Open Class C Driver's Licence (Queensland) or equivalent.
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
