As Senior Financial Accountant, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and play a critical role in supporting the company’s financial operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Consolidation and Reporting: consolidating and maintaining the group ledger, overseeing corporate ledgers across multiple subsidiaries, and managing the end-of-month financial reporting process, including preparing business performance and accounting reports, and presenting monthly updates to the Board.
- Compliance and Accounting Standards: ensuring the general ledger is compliant with all relevant accounting standards and assisting with the preparation and maintenance of accounting papers.
- Process Improvement: identifying and implementing improvements to financial accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, while establishing and continually modifying general accounting procedures and systems.
- Strategic Planning and Special Projects: assisting the Financial Controller with strategic planning and special projects, working closely with senior management and key stakeholders.
- Cost Management and Accuracy: ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of operating costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and forecasts.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: preparing and consolidating group budgets and forecasts, collaborating with the Financial Planning Manager, sites, and other business units to ensure timely and accurate financial planning, and providing detailed financial analysis, including variance reporting, to senior management with recommendations.
- Cash Flow and Capital Management: managing cash flow forecasts for the group, incorporating both committed and uncommitted capital expenditure requirements.
- Hedge Settlements: overseeing and managing outstanding hedge settlements for the group.
- Team Development and Knowledge Sharing: contributing to broader team development by sharing knowledge and expertise, actively participating in coaching and mentoring finance and commercial team members.
About You
You will bring professionalism, integrity, and a proactive mindset to this role. Key qualifications and skills include:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar finance role.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance, with CA or CPA.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting standards, ASX/ASIC obligations, and tax legislation.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial applications.
- Strong report-writing capability and attention to detail.
