My client is currently seeking a skilled and experienced senior database developer to join their small but effective team in Wellington. The team is all multi-skilled and has knowledge and experience across a number of IT software and tools so they are looking for someone with strong passion and willingness to learn new skills.

As a senior database developer, you will be responsible for design, development and implementation of top quality database performance. Ideally you will have capabilities as a database performance specialist or a development DBA using technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.
The role is primarily BAU support with some project work. They are also starting to move from legacy software to newer software and tool sets so you will need to have the skills to maintain the current systems as well as the skills to help them begin to move into the new-modern system and technology.
Skills / Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years experience in SQL Server database development and performance tuning with both cloud and on-premise databases.
- Hands-on skills in creating schemes, tables, queries to support back end developers.
- Ability for DB tuning (e.g. for slow queries), running tests and doing DB updates and rollbacks.
- Proficiency in developing and updating stored procedures to achieve high performance
- Index creation / removal to lift performance.
- Familiarity with GIT (or at least familiar with source control).
- Some DBA knowledge would be great.
- Experience with API, .NET, XML and Azure technology would also be advantageous
