Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the database environment.
Manage non-production, production and disaster recovery database environments.
Works closely with colleagues to ensure that the associated hardware resources for the database environment are configured for optimum performance and availability.
Proactively monitors database environment to ensure minimum downtime.
Provides regular trend analysis to track database performance and throughput, for capacity planning purposes. Responsible for enhancements, maintenance and upgrades to the database environment.
Works with business, architecture, development and technical colleagues to manage and implement changes.

skills and experience required

Expert SQL/Postgres DBA (minimum 5+ year’s experience)
Expert Postgres Enterprise and/or Community knowledge.
Red Hat Cluster experience, preferred in use of PostGres Databases.
Extensive experience implementing and supporting streaming replication between different sites
Automation skills for installation of PostGreSQL
Strong implementation and support experience of SQL and PostGres (e.g .PGPool, PGBouncer, PEM, DRITA, Failover Manager, Data Adapters, Replication Server, Migration Toolkit).
