Randstad is looking for a compassionate SEND teaching assistant willing to extend their support to a SEN specialist school based in Leeds, LS23 area. This is a full - time position (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM; Monday to Friday). You will be supporting children and young people aged 11-19 with complex learning and behavioural needs.
In this school, their children, young people and school community are always on top priority and are at the core of everything they do. Also, they embrace the view that all people are different and require access to an educational process that reflects these differences.
In this role, your expertise in learning support, communication, and creativity will be instrumental in assisting students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities. You'll use a diverse approach to help them comprehend information and provide ongoing support throughout their education.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supervise pupils with SEND and ALN, ensuring their safety and ability to access learning activities and understand the information presented.
- Assist with pupil supervision, including before and after school and in break times.
- Prepare, maintain and use learning resources and assist pupils to use them.
- Promote good behaviour and encourage pupils to take accountability for their actions.
- Provide opportunities for developing independence.
- Build a trusting relationship with all pupils and communicate according to their understanding.
Requirements:
- A good understanding of the national Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum.
- A dedication to establishing positive relationships with pupils and understanding their needs.
- To be a supportive member of the SEND team.
- The ability to handle complex and sensitive issues with empathy and understanding.
- Provide feedback to pupils in a constructive way that reinforces learning.
- Willingness and ability to adapt in response to changing circumstances.
- Eligibility to work in UK (No sponsorship provided)
