We are seeking a dedicated and proactive 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide individualised support to learners with SEN. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where you will play a key role in helping a student reach their full potential.
This rewarding position is based in the Wakefield area within a specialist primary school. The successful candidate will be a vital part of a team committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning experience for every learner, ensuring they feel confident and supported in their journey.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised support to the student within a specialist setting, encouraging active engagement in learning and social activities.
- Implement strategies to help the student manage their learning challenges, focusing on understanding triggers and utilising calming techniques.
- Support the student in navigating social interactions with peers and adjusting to a less structured environment.
- Maintain clear boundaries while fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children who have unique learning needs in a 1:1 or small group setting.
- A calm and patient demeanor, with a strong understanding of de-escalation and redirection techniques.
- Ability to follow and implement structured support plans while adapting to the student's individual requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with specialist and mainstream staff teams.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
