We're seeking a devoted SEN Teaching Assistant ready to support children across both KS1 and KS2. Your primary responsibilities will involve working with children in specialised schools located in the Wakefield area.
These schools employ various strategies to support children in the classroom, striving for both academic and personal development. They are dedicated to addressing the evolving challenges encountered by learners, families, staff, and communities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children's personal and educational details.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, as needed, to offer holistic support.
- Be prepared to handle crisis situations, such as meltdowns or behavioural challenges, calmly and professionally.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of children with SEN, ensuring they receive appropriate resources and accommodations.
- Assist in teaching essential life skills, such as time management, organisation, and self-advocacy, to equip children for life beyond school.
Requirements:
- Solid grasp of the national Key Stage Curriculum.
- Proficiency in various teaching techniques suitable for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Comprehensive understanding of child development and the learning process.
- Strong commitment to fostering positive relationships with children and understanding their needs.
- Ability to offer personalised attention, encouragement, and support with learning tasks.
- Either possess an Enhanced DBS check or be willing to obtain one through Randstad.
- Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
