Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and personal development of students with SEN. Working closely with the teaching staff, your goal will be to help create a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment tailored to the individual needs of each student. You will be instrumental in implementing personalised learning strategies, assisting with behaviour management, and contributing to each student's progress.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote Student Welfare: Ensure the safeguarding of all students in line with the school's policies, including child protection and the PREVENT initiative.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Assist in delivering tailored learning activities that support a broad and inclusive curriculum, helping students achieve their full potential.
- Foster Positive Relationships: Build strong, supportive relationships with students to create a safe, enjoyable, and stimulating educational environment.
- Learning Support: Provide additional explanations and assistance to students during their learning process to facilitate their understanding and progress.
- Progress Tracking: Work with teachers to monitor and document student achievements, ensuring effective tracking of development in line with school policies.
- Contribute to Learning Evaluation: Offer constructive feedback to students and assist teachers in evaluating and adjusting learning activities to meet each student's needs.
- Behaviour Management: Help implement individualised behaviour management strategies to support students with a variety of emotional, social, and learning needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Qualifications:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C or 4 and above)
Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong understanding and experience with students with SEN, including SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD
- Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection policies
- Skilled in supporting students with behavioural challenges, including managing complex behaviours
- Experience in an SEN or educational setting is highly desirable
- Experience working in a multicultural and inclusive environment
