We are looking for a motivated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Leeds area. This is a full-time position available immediately, Monday through Friday, with working hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and a pay range of £90 - £110 per day. A Team Teach qualification is advantageous for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Provide both one-to-one and small group support to help students with SEMH needs navigate their school day with confidence.
- Use individualised strategies to encourage positive behaviours and emotional resilience.
- Assist with behaviour management, including de-escalation techniques, to maintain a calm and inclusive learning atmosphere.
- Work in close collaboration with teaching staff and the SENCO to reinforce each student's personalised learning plan.
- Guide students through social skills development, helping them engage in classroom activities.
- Ensure the well-being of students during non-classroom periods, promoting a secure and friendly environment.
- Document progress and communicate insights with staff to help drive each student's success.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH needs in a school or similar environment.
- Team Teach certification (preferred but training options are available).
- Proficiency in managing behavioural challenges and de-escalating situations.
- A patient, compassionate approach, with the ability to provide emotional support.
- Strong communication skills to connect effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- A commitment to inclusion, student welfare, and creating a positive learning experience.
- DBS check required (or willingness to complete).
