Develop & Implement Quality Management System (QMS):
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) in collaboration with the Section Head of Quality Assurance specifically designed for heavy engineering operations.
Ensure adherence to QMS procedures and processes across all heavy engineering departments and
...
projects, aligning with organizational goals and industry standards.
Conduct regular audits to assess QMS effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and
implementing necessary adjustments.
Establish and Oversee Quality Assurance Processes:
Develop Quality Assurance Processes/Plan (QAP) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) in collaboration
with the Section Head of Quality Assurance to monitor and evaluate project deliverables, ensuring
they meet specified standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Implement quality control measures to detect and rectify non-conformities, deviations, and defects
in materials, components, and workmanship specific to heavy engineering.
Establish inspection and testing protocols across various production stages, ensuring consistent
quality monitoring from initial fabrication through final assembly.
Inspection and Testing Oversight:
Supervise and coordinate inspections at various stages of production, including raw materials, in-
process production, and final assembly.
Oversee non-destructive testing (NDT), visual inspections, dimensional checks, weld inspections,
and other relevant quality control measures.
Ensure that all products, including material, machinery and equipment, conform to project
specifications, classification society rules, and industry standards.
Calibration of QC Equipment:
Ensure that all testing and inspection equipment (such as gauges, measuring instruments, NDT
tools) are calibrated and in proper working condition.
Maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with the quality assurance team, project managers, engineers, and production
stakeholders to develop and implement quality plans and inspection procedures tailored to heavy
engineering project requirements.
Coordinate with procurement teams to address quality issues with suppliers, ensuring materials and
components align with heavy engineering specifications and standards.
Engage with production and engineering teams to incorporate quality best practices into heavy
engineering processes, reducing rework and enhancing efficiency.
Supplier Evaluation & Management:
Evaluate and approve suppliers and subcontractors based on their ability to meet quality standards
and specific heavy engineering requirements.
Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews to ensure consistency, reliability, and
quality of materials and services provided to heavy engineering projects.
Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous
improvement measures as necessary.
Ensure Compliance with Industry Regulations & Standards:
Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and certifications applicable to heavy engineering
activities.
Ensure regulatory compliance in all quality control activities, covering areas such as safety,
environmental protection, and product certification for heavy engineering.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and certification agencies to obtain and maintain necessary approvals
and accreditations for heavy engineering operations.
