Responsibilities
- Develop the strategy for a Master Data Management (MDM) system to ensure high-quality and consistent data across the organization, and create a roadmap for MDM adoption, including technical requirements and dependencies.
- Assess MDM vendors and tools, building a capabilities matrix to determine whether to build in-house or procure a vendor solution.
- Evaluate integration requirements for the MDM system with existing systems, identifying and prioritizing systems for integration.
- Define the blueprint for the enterprise-wide master data model, identifying critical entities, hierarchies, and relationships.
- Lead the design of a unified data platform by consolidating disparate data sources into a single, standardized structure optimized for analytics and reporting. Address challenges related to data inconsistencies, redundancies, and quality during the consolidation process.
- Design methodologies and approaches for entity resolution to eliminate duplicates and create a single version of truth. Collaborate with teams to select and implement tools or algorithms for effective entity matching and reconciliation.
- Refine the high-level data architecture for the platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with organizational goals. Establish best practices for metadata management, data cataloging, and lineage tracking to support MDM strategies.
- Partner with data governance teams to align the MDM strategy with existing policies, ensuring compliance and secure data practices. Define and enforce data modelling standards, conventions, and documentation practices to maintain consistency across teams.
- Support the estimation of effort and resource requirements for current and future data migration or consolidation projects. Provide expert input on key data-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with the overall data strategy.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data modelling, or similar roles.
- 3+ years' experience with entity resolution methods in master data management systems with ability to define and implement data quality metrics and thresholds to ensure accuracy and reliability of consolidated data.
- Extensive experience in designing data models for large-scale data consolidation projects involving diverse and numerous data sources.
- In-depth knowledge of various data modelling approaches, including analytical models (e.g., star and snowflake schemas), operational models (e.g., normalized relational models), and data vaults.
- Strong understanding of best practices for creating scalable, flexible, and standardized data models to support integration, reporting, and analytics.
- Awareness of emerging trends and best practices in data consolidation, master data modelling, and entity resolution.
- Proven expertise in resolving complex entity resolution and reconciliation challenges across diverse datasets.
- Proficiency in modern data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, or equivalent) and familiarity with data cataloging tools to manage metadata effectively.
- Experience with data integration and transformation platforms such as Databricks, Azure Data Factory.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with data consolidation and modelling for procurement or supply chain domains.
- Experience in integrating MDM strategies with data governance frameworks to ensure policies for data accuracy, lineage, and compliance are maintained.
- Expertise in developing roadmaps and strategies for MDM adoption and scaling.
