... The conservation coordinator role is instrumental in effective delivery of pest plant and animal control and ecological restoration projects across the Regional Park network. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure effective and timely delivery of projects.
Start date: ASAP, 12 months fixed term role
Location: Ardmore airport area, with some travel to southern regional parks
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm (flexible start times available)
Pay: $80,000 per annum
Key responsibilities:
- Oversight of the performance of contractors, staff and volunteers to ensure that projects are delivered to agreed standards and are meeting required results.
- Ensuring project reporting requirements are met.
- Coordinating materials and services for conservation projects across the regional park network.
- Developing project specifications with support from senior rangers.
- Creating annual work plans for assigned projects.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field - ecology, conservation, environmental management.
- 3+ years experience in a pest plant or animal management or ecological restoration role.
- Experience in leading ecological projects, including projects with community based outcomes.
- Effective project delivery, including contract supervision.
- Experience in working in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders to build strong rapport and work toward outcomes.
- A current NZ restricted or NZ full driver’s licence.
- Experience using GIS systems including Survey123 and Fieldmaps is desirable (training will be provided).
