We are currently recruiting for a variety of Special Support Assistants qualified to support special educational needs and learning needs in primary education across Blackpool and Fleetwood. The positions available will require a qualified TA to support a child on a 1:1 basis, these roles include a variety of SEN needs such as Autism, ASH, Behavioural, cognitive delay, global delay, down syndrome and hearing impairments.
The role is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm from 28th October till 20th December.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring pupils stay on task by managing disruptive behaviour
- Providing support to children on a 1 to 1 basis or in a group setting
- Safeguarding children
- Assisting the teacher in planning engaging lessons for the class in line with school policies
- Liaising with the class teacher and other support staff to provide the best support
- Preparation of resources and activities for 1:1 support tailored to the child's needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers / SENCO to organise appropriate activities.
- Liaise with other professionals such as Teacher, TA and specialist support staff.
- Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.
- Work with classes, small groups and with children on a one-to-one basis.
- Monitor and track the pupil's development in question and support personal development and confidence.
Essential requirements
- Experience of working with young people.
- Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
- Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people.
- Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style.
- Have experience with SEN or knowledge learning difficulties.
- TA qualified.
