Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control:
- Perform quality checks at different stages of the production process (incoming, in-process, and final product inspections).
- Ensure products meet quality standards as per ISO, GMP, or specific client requirements.
- Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products.
Compliance and Standards:
- Monitor adherence to regulatory standards and company SOPs.
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards relevant to the packaging industry.
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain quality assurance documentation such as inspection reports, deviation reports, and corrective action records.
- Update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions regularly.
Problem Solving:
- Investigate and resolve quality issues or customer complaints.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and design teams to address quality concerns.
- Provide training to operators and staff on quality standards and best practices.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for process optimization to improve product quality.
- Work on reducing waste and rejections by implementing lean quality practices.
Audits and Reviews:
- Participate in internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 9001, HACCP, BRC Packaging Standards).
- Review supplier performance and ensure incoming materials meet the required specifications.
Tool and Equipment Calibration:
- Ensure measuring and testing tools are calibrated and maintain calibration records.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, paper, laminates, etc.) and production processes.
- Familiarity with quality standards like ISO 9001, BRCGS for Packaging Materials, and HACCP.
- Proficient in quality tools such as 5S, Six Sigma, 8D Problem Solving, and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask.
Educational Qualification:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Optional: Certification in quality management systems like Lean Six Sigma, CQE (Certified Quality Engineer).
Work Experience:
- Entry-Level: 1–3 years in a quality assurance role in the packaging industry or manufacturing.
- Mid-Level: 3–5 years with hands-on experience in quality processes in packaging.
