Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in Quality Control, AWS/CSWIP Welding inspector, Six Sigma, ISO Lead/Internal Auditor, or ASQ Certified Quality Manager, are highly advantageous.
Preferred Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within ship repairs or a related manufacturing industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience managing quality control processes, conducting internal audits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards specific to ship repairs.
- Preferred: In-depth knowledge of quality management principles, tools, and methodologies, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and Six Sigma.
Functional and Behavioral Competency:
- Quality Control Expertise: In-depth understanding of quality control processes, testing, and inspection methods specific to ship repairs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strong knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and certification processes relevant to quality control in ship repairs.
- Thorough Knowledge of Quality Management: Proficient in quality management principles, techniques, and tools such as statistical process control, root cause analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Familiarity with International Standards: Knowledge of international quality standards and regulations applicable to ship repairs, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and relevant classification society rules.
- Process Improvement & Efficiency: Proficiency in driving continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining workflows, and optimizing resource utilization within ship repairs.
- Supplier Management: Ability to evaluate, audit, and collaborate with suppliers to maintain high-quality standards for materials and services in ship repairs.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in quality management software, ERP systems, and MS Office for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze quality data, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective corrective actions.
