Key Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain quality control systems and procedures in accordance with international standards (e.g., IRS, LRS, ISO, BV, DNV GL, and ABS).
Conduct inspections and tests on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished vessels to ensure they meet specified standards and requirements.
Perform dimensional inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT) and other quality control tests.
Review and approve welding procedures, qualifications, and certifications.
Monitor welding processes and ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
Prepare and maintain detailed reports on inspections, tests and quality control activities.
Document non-conformances, deviations, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with design, production, and project management teams to address quality concerns.
Preferred Competencies:
Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Metallurgy, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control within the shipbuilding or marine industry.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification is preferred. NDT Level II or III certification is an advantage.
Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes, materials, and quality control standards. Familiarity with ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, IACS and other relevant standards.
Proficiency in quality control inspection tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in using quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
The position involves working in both office and shipyard environments.
May require exposure to varying weather conditions and noise levels.
Must adhere to safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
