As a Social Worker in Children's Services, you will work with vulnerable children and families involved in legal proceedings. You will be responsible for preparing detailed court reports, attending court hearings, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure that children in need of care and protection receive the appropriate support and safeguarding. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct thorough initial assessments of children and families referred to the council, identifying immediate needs and risks in line with the assessment framework established by the Children Act 1989.
- Manage cases requiring legal intervention under the Children Act 1989, the Care Act 2014, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, which includes preparing court reports, attending hearings, and providing evidence to protect vulnerable children.
- Handle urgent and complex cases with sensitivity and efficiency, providing crisis intervention and support as needed, while ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Produce high-quality, detailed court reports, including Section 7 reports (welfare reports) and Section 47 reports (investigations into child abuse), care plans, and statements, ensuring all information is accurate and comprehensive.
- Draft and submit legal documents for court proceedings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory guidelines and deadlines, as well as ensuring the best interests of the child as outlined in the Children Act 1989.
Requirements
- Relevant social work qualification
- 3 experience in adult social work, including assessment and care planning.
