Responsibilities
As a Product Controller, your duties will include but not limited to:
●Ensuring strong financial controls and efficient processes around the P&L, Attribution, Balance Sheet, and Independent Pricing Verification and Valuation Adjustment processes for company Securities.
●Challenging, proposing, and championing projects to improve efficiencies, to provide more effective business support through end-to-end controls and continued process enhancement and efficiency.
●Acting as a business product control function and the financial guardian of the company Securities sales and trading activities.
●Ensuring overall Product Control function conducts independent validation of the value of the trading portfolios / books.
●Working with the businesses and the new business product groups to evaluate and integrate new products and businesses into our financial environment and build in appropriate controls to ensure integrity for financial records.
●Provisioning reliable and meaningful financial information to business managers, external stakeholders, and other relevant internal stakeholders.
●Working closely with the trading desk, trade support, syndicate accounting, technology, financial control, and other infrastructure areas to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
●Partnering with and supporting the business to develop business, financial, operational, and/or strategy for the organization.
●Ensuring alignment between business and enterprise financial goals / thresholds.
Qualifications
●In-depth knowledge of financial derivatives, valuations, accounting, and control practices gained through academic study or practical experience.
●Strong communication (written & verbal) and inter-personal skills to facilitate working with business partners, stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
●Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, business acumen, problem solving, and analytical skills; can see the "big picture" in a complex environment through excellent judgement.
●Strong understanding of capital markets and regulatory environment.
●Programming skillsets such as Python is an asset.
