We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with additional needs at a primary school in the Leeds, LS7 area. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
This primary school provides a welcoming and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. With a strong focus on both academic and personal development, the school fosters creativity, resilience, and a love for learning. The dedicated staff work closely with families to ensure all children receive the care and attention they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support to the pupil, assisting with their academic tasks and promoting engagement in lessons.
- Support the pupil's social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour and building their confidence.
- Help create a safe and nurturing learning environment, adapting materials and resources to suit the pupil's needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher to monitor progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
- Foster independence by encouraging self-reliance and developing strategies for managing tasks.
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the pupil's holistic development.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with additional needs, particularly in a primary school setting, is desirable.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with children.
- A proactive approach to supporting children's learning and development.
- A good understanding of the national Key Stage (KS) curriculum and child development and learning.
- The ability to demonstrate active listening skills and strong verbal communication skills, building positive relationships with pupils and understanding their needs.
- The ability to provide varying levels of individual attention, reassurance and support with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils' needs.
- The ability to provide constructive feedback to pupils in a way that reinforces self-esteem, handling complex and sensitive issues with empathy and understanding.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one through randstad
- Must be eligible to work in the UK (No Sponsorship provided)
