**Position Purpose:**The Senior Manager of External Affairs & Pricing directly contributes to the company's business by optimizing pricing strategies. This role focuses on maximizing benefits through timely and favorable NHI price setting for new drugs, while minimizing potential losses from downward price adjustments due to revisions and repricing.**Responsibilities:**- Develop strategic NHI pricing approaches and secure endorsement for pricing strategies and proposals from the Country President and TA Leads through the Pricing Committee.- Create robust pricing dossiers and strategically manage price negotiations.- Build strong alignment and partnerships among Japan Pricing Core members (including the New Asset & Access Strategy team, New Asset Analysis team, DJ, Medical, Launch Excellence Team, Policy and Public Affairs, and the global PHI) to ensure optimal price setting.- Develop pricing-related OP assumptions.- Update pricing assumptions and estimated prices for pipeline products and BD assets to reflect the latest competitive environment.- Minimize downward price adjustments through revisions and repricing by collaborating cross-functionally.- Maintain strong relationships with the “Policy Planning Division for Pharmaceutical Industry Promotion and Medical Information Management, MHLW” and serve as a liaison between the company and MHLW to effectively manage all product-related issues, including NHI pricing negotiations.- Actively participate in trade association activities (FPMAJ, PhRMA, FIRM, etc.) to advocate for a pro-innovation pricing framework.- Contribute to building a high-performing team by coaching junior colleagues and fostering a positive environment where team members feel energized and encouraged to voice their ideas.

**Desired Skill Set:**
- Experience with pricing for a minimum of 20 products is required, with 5-8 years or more experience in NHI pricing preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare system, deep understanding of the NHI pricing system, and extensive experience in NHI pricing negotiations.
- Strong understanding of health policy, health system dynamics, access, pricing, and reimbursement systems.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with external and internal executive-level stakeholders.
- Innovative and creative strategic thinking with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Teamwork, networking, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Advanced writing abilities and excellent communication skills in Japanese, with proficiency in English communication.
