Redcar & Cleveland Council's Children's Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic Pre-Birth Team. We are committed to providing early intervention and support to families who are expecting a child, aiming to prevent harm and ensure the best possible start for every child.
Your Role:
As a Pre-Birth Team member, you will play a vital role in supporting families during pregnancy and the early stages of a child's life.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Early Identification of Risk: Working with families to identify and assess potential risks to the unborn child, including factors such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health concerns, or existing vulnerabilities.
- Developing Support Plans: Creating tailored support plans for families based on their individual needs, promoting positive parenting, and helping them address any challenges.
- Building Relationships: Developing strong and trusting relationships with families, providing them with support, guidance, and encouragement during a crucial period in their lives.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other professionals involved in the family's care, including midwives, health visitors, and other agencies, ensuring a coordinated approach.
- Promoting Positive Outcomes: Working to ensure children are born into safe and nurturing environments, with the best possible chance for a healthy and happy start.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
- Experience in Child Protection: Demonstrated experience working with families at risk of harm, and a strong understanding of child safeguarding principles and practices.
- Excellent Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with families, other professionals, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount.
