Responsibilities
In this Payroll Specialist position located in Vaughan, you will be responsible for the following:
- Manage bi-weekly and weekly payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees across Canada.
- Verify and reconcile timecards to ensure accurate tracking of hours worked, overtime, and paid time off.
- Calculate and process payroll adjustments, including bonuses, commissions, and other compensation components.
- Ensure adherence to federal, provincial, and local payroll tax regulations, including withholding and reporting requirements.
- Produce detailed payroll reports and provide insights to management on payroll metrics, trends, and costs.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies, deductions, and earnings statements promptly and effectively.
- Work closely with the HR department to onboard new employees and ensure their correct setup in the payroll system.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including the preparation and distribution of T4 forms.
- Stay informed about updates in payroll laws and regulations to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
- Continuously seek and implement improvements to streamline payroll processes and enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
In this Payroll Specialist position located in Vaughan, we are looking for:
- PCP or PLP designation preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience processing payroll for Canadian employees is required.
- Multiprovince payroll processing experience is required.
- Experience with payroll systems such as Pay works, ADP WFN or Ceridian Dayforce is required.
- Experience working with unionized employees is required.
