Job: OHC Medical Officer
Qualification - MBBS + AFIH Doctor
Experience: 5+ Years in a factory set up
Key responsibilities:
- Medical Examinations and Health Assessments:
- Conduct pre-employment, annual health check, and return-to-work medical examinations for employees
- Evaluate employees’ fitness for duty and provide clearance for job functions.
- Assess and document occupational health risks, advising on necessary preventive measures.
- Injury and Illness Management:
- Provide medical treatment and care for work-related injuries and illnesses & liase with medical professionals at various hospitals/or as necessary
- Oversee the rehabilitation and return-to-work process for injured employees.
- Emergency Response and First Aid:
- Lead the medical response during workplace emergencies and accidents
- Provide emergency care and stabilize injured employees before referral to external medical facilities
- Train and supervise first aid responders at site (BLS, BCLS)/any other trainings from time to time
- Health and Safety Advisory:
- Advise management and employees on health and safety issues, including ergonomics, chemical safety, and preventive measures
- Participate in risk assessments and advise on occupational health aspects of new projects and processes
- Partner closely with the Safety officer to develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in the shopfloor
- Regular visits to the shopfloor
- Health Promotion and Wellness:
- Develop and lead health promotion activities such as workshops, seminars, and awareness programs on topics like stress management, nutrition, and lifestyle diseases.
- Encourage healthy practices and a safe working environment through employee education and engagement
- Conduct periodic hygiene surveys and occupational health surveys in adherence to function objectives and goals
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local occupational health regulations and company policies i.e. The Indian Factories Act, The Karnataka Factories Rules, Biomedical Waste Rules, Clinic Establishment Rules (KPME) or any other applicable acts/rules
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in occupational health
- Prepare and submit reports to relevant authorities and management as required
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all employees.
- Document all medical incidents, treatments, and consultations in a systematic manner.
- Prepare regular reports on occupational health statistics and trends for management review
- Reporting of any injuries/emergency hospitalizations
- Medical Support System:
- Build a strong medical support system with nearby hospitals, including tertiary care centres, health authorities, medical team of nearby industries, medical supply vendors and service providers
- Vendor Management:
- Identify and onboard vendors for supplying equipment, medicines, calibration, training, laundry, biomedical waste disposal, and ambulance services etc.
- Managing the vendor relationship
- Ordering & invoicing
- Stakeholder Management:
- Foster good relationships with the union and management to ensure seamless and hassle-free occupational health services
- Proactively build connections with employees and imbibe a culture of care
- Represent the site in internal/external audits from a health & safety standpoint and submit reports
- Representation in team meetings/leadership meetings & sharing of weekly/monthly data
- Managing the OHC:
- Day to Day Management of the Occupational Health Centre (OHC) along with the Paramedics & ambulance
- Medicine management, support site in offsite/sports event/activities
- Keep self-abreast with leading practices, research studies & trends and contribute to the identification of continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures
