As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling critical equipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly at the operations center and across multiple sites.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Installing and aligning machinery to precise tolerances.
Servicing a variety of equipment: diesel engines, compressors, pumps, turbines, conveyors, valves, and more!
Troubleshooting and problem-solving mechanical issues reported by operators.
Training and mentoring junior mechanics to share your expertise.
Collaborating with your team and assisting in ongoing maintenance projects.

Responsibilities
Installs and aligns machinery and equipment to specified tolerances.
Maintains, repairs and overhauls equipment such as diesel/gas engines, electric generating units, high pressure gas and air compressors, gas and air blowers, large pumps, grinders, grit removal vortexes, conveyors, barminutors, reduction gears, heat exchangers, hand and pneumatic valves, overhead cranes, turbines, etc.
Installs, maintains and services valves, meters, and various piping systems.
Installs, maintains and aligns all conveyor systems chains, sprockets, plates, pumps, drives and compressors.
Services and maintains all internal combustion engines and keeps engine maintenance records.
Investigates, troubleshoots, and takes remedial action on problems reported by Operators
Maintains records of completed jobs and shares expertise with Operators on serviced equipment.
Trains and directs junior Mechanics in maintenance procedures.
Maintains technical currency related to the trade.
Assist welders with layout work and provides minor maintenance welding.
Inventories materials and parts as required for various types of work.
Works in compliance with all MVRD safety policies, procedures and WorkSafe BC regulations.
Qualifications
You’re a self-starter with an eye for detail and a strong mechanical aptitude. You take pride in your work and thrive in a collaborative, safety-first environment.
Key Qualifications:
Grade 12 (or equivalent), plus a Trades Qualification certificate (Heavy Duty Mechanic or Millwright).
4+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, repair, and overhaul.
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, lathes, welding, and more.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and predictive maintenance tools.
