My client, a growing financial firm specializing in hedge funds and alternative investments, is looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA). This role involves managing and optimizing on-premise and Azure SQL databases, handling upgrades, high availability, backup administration, and performance optimization. You will collaborate with developers and business teams to enhance database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize schemas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain on-premise and Azure SQL databases, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Optimize queries, stored procedures, views, and functions for better efficiency.
- Work with Cloud Azure SQL Server, Data Lake, and related storage technologies.
- Implement and manage database backups, including full and transaction log backups.
- Collaborate with developers and business units to enhance database performance.
- Use tools like DBA tools or PowerShell for automation and management.
Qualifications:
- A 2.1 degree in Computer Science or a related field from a top-tier university.
- Strong experience with MS SQL Server, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Experience with Always-On High Availability and Backup/Restore processes.
- Familiarity with PowerShell and SQL Server modules for management.
- Experience with SQL Server maintenance tasks, partitioning, and CDC.
- Understanding of SAN arrays (Nimble or PURE preferred).
- Financial services experience is a plus.
