The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems within healthcare facilities. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive experience in mechanical systems, a strong understanding of healthcare environments, and the ability to manage a team of technicians. The ideal candidate will ensure that all mechanical systems are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the mechanical maintenance team.
- Ensure all mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems, are maintained and repaired to comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to avoid system failures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders and service reports.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall facility operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly those specific to the healthcare sector.
- Train and mentor team members, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Assist in budget preparation and manage maintenance budgets effectively.
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or a related field (HND/HNC, NVQ, City & Guilds).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical maintenance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
- Experience in the healthcare sector is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices, particularly in healthcare environments.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and MS Office.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
