Nestled in the scenic woodlands of Darwen, this innovative educational institution caters to students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, and other related conditions. Rated 'Good,' the school is now looking for a dedicated SEN LSAs to join their passionate team.
The Position
In this role, you will be integral to the educational and emotional support of the students, ensuring they achieve their highest potential in a nurturing and secure environment. Responsibilities include occasional care support and positive behaviour management, with a focus on individualised approaches for each student.
You will build supportive relationships with the pupils, creating a welcoming and stimulating learning environment. Promoting independence, personal growth, and maintaining high behavioural standards are key. Assisting the class teacher, you will help deliver engaging and challenging educational activities tailored to each student's needs, aiming for comprehensive development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning and assessing learning activities.
- Provide constructive feedback on student progress.
- Assist in monitoring, assessing, and reporting on pupils' progress in line with school policies.
- Support positive behaviour and adapt responses to any changes or escalations.
- Promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development and British values within the PSHE curriculum.
- Enhance pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being through a holistic Day Curriculum.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist in various tasks as needed in the dynamic SEN environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working with SEN in either a professional or voluntary capacity.
- Full UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle (essential for student carpooling on a rota basis).
- Recognised Level 2 or higher qualification in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable).
- GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above (essential).
- Knowledge of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Experience with SEN or SEMH/ASD students.
- A student-focused approach, treating each child as an individual.
- Creativity and positivity in meeting students' unique needs.

Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
