We are currently looking for an enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant team.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing individualised support to students with diverse learning needs. You will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to implement tailored strategies that promote academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring that every student can thrive and succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personalised Support: Offer one-to-one and small group assistance to students with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning challenges, adapting your approach to meet their unique needs.
- Lesson Participation: Aid in the planning and execution of lessons, modifying materials and activities to ensure they are accessible and engaging for all students.
- Inclusive Environment: Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging social interaction and emotional well-being among all students.
- Behaviour Management: Implement and support behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and maintain a conducive learning environment.
- Curriculum Access: Assist students in accessing the curriculum by providing the necessary support and adaptations, enabling them to fully participate in all school activities.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed records of student progress, behaviour, and interventions, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents to inform ongoing support strategies.
Requirements:
- Experience in SEN Education: Previous experience working with children with SEN in a Learning Support Assistant or similar role.
- Educational Qualifications: GCSEs in Maths and English - Minimum Level 2/C Grade.
- Empathy and Patience: A compassionate and patient demeanour, with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team, contributing to a positive and collaborative school environment.
- Flexibility and Initiative: Adaptable to changing situations and proactive in finding solutions to support student needs.
