The position of Laboratory Technician is within our Abbott Toxicology Laboratory located at Abingdon, Oxfordshire. This role will support the preparation of samples and production of results within the analytical section of the laboratory.
Job Specifics:
- Monday to Friday - 37.5hrs per week
- £12.05phr
- Temporary until end of November
- Fully on site - 5 days a week
- Hands on role
- Based in Abingdon - OX14

The position offers a wide-range of opportunities to grow your technical and scientific knowledge, as well as analysing data, evaluating results and forming conclusions, and using your technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.
Main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- To support the day to day work programme in the laboratory to agreed deadlines and quality standards.
- To assist in the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used in the analytical processes.
- To assist in the preparation of reagents, calibration standards and control materials in accordance with the relevant SOPs.
- To assist in stock control to ensure adequate levels of reagents, chemicals and consumables are held in stock.
- To ensure the laboratory is kept clean and tidy to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- To assist in administration tasks (e.g. completing record forms, spreadsheets, filing, scanning) to support the laboratory.
- To aliquot samples into analyser racks maintaining a steady throughput to the screening laboratory, place processed samples onto the temporary storage racks.
- Demographic entry of donor details in a fast an accurate manner
- Clerical review of entered donor details
Job Requirements:
- Appropriate Science Degree
- Previous Laboratory experienace (Prefferable)
- Eligibility to Work in the UK
The ideal candidates will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a team. You will need to have good communication, analytical and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
