If you have a technical background or packaging development background then that is an advantage. Furthermore, it is important that you are flexible as you will take on different tasks and think along with us. We are looking for someone who is meticulous, can work independently and has some affinity with product development. You are proficient with systems and feel comfortable in a lab environment. You are experienced with packaging engineering and plastics.

what will you do

The role of Lab Engineer focuses on assisting with trials and quality checks, primarily for Tassimo mono material development, in both the lab and pilot plant. Following a successful POF, the position involves scaling production, qualifying new machines and processes, and ensuring consistent quality of discs and lids.

Key tasks include analyzing materials, coordinating and performing destructive, brew, and safety tests, and interpreting results. The role also requires investigating deviations through data analysis, participating in development meetings with suppliers and production teams, and building quality knowledge. This knowledge is shared with production teams to ensure high standards, especially during new investment projects to secure a smooth quality transfer to operations.

• Analyze materials, semi-finished, and finished products to meet quality standards for Tassimo coffee and tea.
• Coordinate and conduct destructive burst, brew, and safety tests.
• Interpret and report test results.
• Carry out assigned tasks and report to the project lead.
• Conduct objective analyses to identify causes of deviations through testing, observations, and production data.
• Participate in product and process development, supplier, and production meetings.
• Build, maintain, and share quality knowledge with production and technical service.

Jacobs Douwe Egberts Research and Development (R&D) is part of the Global JDE organization. R&D is the major contributor to the development of innovative coffee and tea products and is constantly optimizing the product portfolio. Focus of R&D is on building technology platforms, new
products, portfolio renovations and productivity initiatives. R&D have a strong involvement in JDE business and are providing valuable input to enable business decisions to be made. Projects are mostly carried out together with Marketing, Operations and Procurement Departments.
