Rated as the best air quality of all first tier cities in China, Shenzhen itself is a wonderful planned city filled with Plants and shrubbery on the coast in the warmer southern climbs of China. The excitement of Hong Kong is also not too far away.
Specific Responsibilities as IB DP Coordinator
- Exercise pedagogical and administrative leadership within the International Baccalaureate DP programme, the to-be-developed transitional foundational programme linking it to the Hong Kong junior secondary curriculum and the curricular interface in between.
- Create and sustain school policies that allows staff to access the different processes regarding special educational needs, assessments, language and academic honesty.
- Liaise, communicate and coordinate between the school and the IBO.
- Lead the IB DP curriculum through working with, and supporting, teachers in the planning and teaching of subjects within the six groups of the programme, as well as the core of Creativity, Activity and Service, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, and in supporting assessment work.
- Take a lead role in overseeing the core of the programme. This includes ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of what the core consist of, and their role within it.
- Help staff teach towards the International Baccalaureate`s philosophy, create opportunities for staff to collaborate and support each other.
- Hold parent workshops to keep them informed of a wide range of issues such as an overview of the programme, the core of the programme, assessment procedures, revision strategies and academic honesty, as well as sharing ideas on how parents can best support them through the programme.
School Requirements
- Appropriate degree, with secondary education and IBDP teacher training recognised worldwide, in Hong Kong or the UK, or other equivalent teaching qualification giving QTS.
- Working experience and knowledge of the IB DP Curriculum
- Evidence of relevant and challenging continuing professional development.
- Effective implementation of learning and teaching strategies to achieve appropriately set teaching objectives that are in line with curriculum goals.
- Understanding of how children develop and learn.
- Ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, in accordance with all relevant safeguarding polices and practice.
- Knowledge and experience of how to use of IT effectively in promoting pupil learning.
- Previous experience or knowledge of working with pupils for whom English is not their first language, or with pupils at secondary level, is a bonus.
- Effective communication and engagement with parents.
- Respect for all members of a school community

Salary and Benefits Package
The remuneration package is very generous and includes the following;

- An annual bonus of 10% of salary, subject to appraisal

- 100% remission on tuition fees for up to two (2) dependent children attending the School. 50% remission on tuition fees for 3rd dependent child onward.
