ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines - the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.
Reporting to the General Manager Stakeholder Relations, the Head of Corporate Communications and Media will lead ASC’s external communications and media functions and is accountable for developing and managing ASC’s corporate external communications and media strategy to protect and enhance ASC’s brand and reputation.
Role & Responsibilities
... - Develop and execute ASC’s Corporate external communications and media relations strategy, ensuring its alignment to overall business strategy.
- Manage the production and distribution of ASC’s external communications and media engagement.
- Manage and oversee ASC’s events and marketing activities.
- Develop corporate communications and media frameworks for decision making and governance arrangements.
- Assure ASC’s brand and reputation are positioned to enable success of ASC and the Australian Submarine Enterprise.
- Report on Corporate communications and media function performance and compliance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop a high performing and positive team culture.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Public Relations, communications, media, journalism, or a related field.
- 10 years in a management role leading a communications and/or media team.
- Demonstrated experience in working with a diverse range of stakeholders in a large company or Government environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing a successful communications and media strategy.
- Demonstrated experience delivering high quality company documents such as Annual Reports.
- Demonstrated experience managing a company website.
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic and tactical advice for media – both reputational value (brand enhancement) and risk (crisis).
- Demonstrated professional, timely and accurate verbal and communication skills.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build/ foster a high performing culture.
- Demonstrated experience upholding high ethical standards and integrity
- A well-established network of media contacts across multiple mediums.
