You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Public Policy, Product, and the Central and Global Comms teams, and will partner with media outlets and influencers, telling YouTube Canada’s story in-market. You’ll also be the key point person for YouTube in Canada, managing reactive issues and supporting policy files as needed.

Responsibilities
Own the development of end-to-end external communications, crafting messages, pitches, and story angles (e.g., executive thought leadership pieces for industry publications, social media copy for Twitter, key messages for briefings).
Build relationships with key consumer, product and business press to advance YouTube’s reputational efforts and land key narratives in market.
Partner with cross-functional teams in marketing, partnerships, policy, and legal for ongoing events, campaigns, reporter briefings, etc.
Support executive comms for YouTube leadership in Canada including keynotes, press briefings, public engagements, etc.
Train and provide guidance to company officials for press activities. Help manage external agencies to support day-to-day inquiries, special projects, and events.
Collaborate with colleagues across the Canada Comms team on core files that impact both YouTube

Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
You must meet these minimum qualifications to apply:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in communications within a business, social media, traditional media, non-profit, or similar environment.
Proven track record of developing and implementing impactful media campaigns in-market
Experience with developing critical communications materials related to company, operational, or reputational issues.
Ability to focus, prioritize, and maintain good judgement in a fast-paced environment; to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organised fashion; and to adapt quickly and escalate issues effectively.

Preferred qualifications:
Having as many of these specific qualifications is a plus, but transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable
Hands-on experience with communications related to company, operational, or reputational issues.
Demonstrable success planning and executing integrated and scalable media campaigns.
An established network of relevant media contacts, influencers and other stakeholders.
Strong writing skills and an ability to translate the complex into simple, clear and intuitive communications.
Strong cross-functional partnership skills and ability to independently manage projects with multiple stakeholders.
