Role Summary
The Head of Renewable Energy (Mergers and Acquisitions) will be responsible for leading and executing M&A strategies within the renewable energy sector. This senior role requires deep industry knowledge, strategic vision, and the ability to oversee complex transactions. Reporting directly to the Group CEO or Head of Corporate Development, the individual will spearhead acquisition and partnership opportunities that align with the group’s growth objectives, focusing on expanding the renewable energy footprint regionally and globally.
Key Responsibilities
... - Strategic Leadership: Develop and lead M&A strategies for the renewable energy division, identifying potential acquisitions, partnerships, and investment opportunities to support the conglomerate's strategic goals.
- Market Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough market assessments to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the renewable energy sector, including solar, wind, hydro, and energy storage.
- Transaction Management: Lead end-to-end M&A transactions, from initial identification and assessment through to due diligence, negotiation, and integration, ensuring alignment with corporate governance and risk management standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, target companies, financial advisors, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth transaction execution.
- Due Diligence Oversight: Oversee comprehensive due diligence processes, evaluating financial, operational, legal, and environmental aspects to mitigate risks and ensure sound investment decisions.
- Integration Planning: Develop and implement post-merger integration plans that maximize value capture and align with the conglomerate’s strategic goals.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Work closely with the ESG and sustainability teams to ensure all M&A activities align with the company’s sustainability and net-zero targets.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of M&A professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Reporting & Compliance: Provide regular updates to executive leadership on M&A activities, pipeline, and performance, ensuring compliance with relevant local and international regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or relevant master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, or corporate development, with at least 5 years in the renewable energy sector.
- Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of renewable energy markets, technologies, and regulatory environments in Southeast Asia.
- M&A Expertise: Proven track record of leading large, complex transactions in renewable energy, including expertise in valuation, structuring, and integration.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, financial modeling, and valuation skills, with the ability to assess risks and make data-driven decisions.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated experience in leading high-performing teams and influencing at the executive level.
- Communication: Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is a plus.
