Salary: £34,031.01 - £61,116.53
Duration: 12 months (with the potential of a perm contract based on performance)

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Material Handling & Production Processes: Oversee plant material handling, including material flow, packaging, SMART vehicles, AGVs, and IVECs, while managing key production processes for components and assemblies.
- Champion Safety, DEI, & Compliance: Promote a zero-accident safety culture, adopt Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles, and ensure compliance with GIS, TS16949, ISO14001, and ISO18001 standards.
- Drive Cost Efficiency & Continuous Improvement: Control costs, implement cost-saving actions, and spearhead Jobs per Hour and other efficiency improvements to maximize business value.
- Manage Major Projects & Contractors: Lead capital projects, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and environmental compliance, while effectively managing contractors with a focus on health, safety, and project delivery.
- Foster Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the engineering team, internal stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring clear communication across all levels, including Trade Unions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background: Degree in automotive or mechanical engineering is essential; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in general computer applications, including Excel, Word, and project management software (e.g., Project). Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques and material handling processes is beneficial.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical mindset with experience in problem-solving techniques and tools such as 8Ds, 5 Whys, and Six Sigma to develop effective engineering solutions.
- Interpersonal & Leadership Abilities: Excellent communication and people skills, with a proven ability to direct teams and work collaboratively in a challenging environment.
- Personal Attributes: Highly motivated, self-driven, and adaptable, with a can-do attitude and the capacity to meet demanding deadlines while overcoming complex challenges. Knowledge of ergonomics and manual handling is a plus; experience with AGVs/AMRs is desirable but not essential.
