Job Purpose:The Manager of Government Affairs & Policy, Japan will manage internal and external interactions to position the company as a credible stakeholder to the local government and shape policies of strategic importance. This role focuses on government affairs and policy work for the innovative medicine sector. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:・Collaborate with business, market access, communications, and other functions to track and analyze policy trends and contribute to activities that shape the environment and influence policy decisions to achieve company goals.・Enhance the company’s corporate reputation as an advocate while working to accelerate patient access to innovative medicines.Essential Duties and Responsibilities・Monitor and analyze government policies, regulations, and legislation.・Identify issues that may impact the company and provide early warnings to internal stakeholders.・Develop and execute strategies with internal teams to shape the policy environment in areas critical to the business, such as pricing, reimbursement, regulatory issues, intellectual property rights, business practices, and healthcare reform.・Collaborate with external stakeholders to shape policy and enhance the company's presence and activities in the policy arena, including legislators, government officials, advisors to regulatory bodies, industry associations, and think tanks.・Represent the company’s vision and contributions as a bio-healthcare leader in the market.・Work with internal teams to develop and implement crisis management initiatives to protect the company's reputation.・Connect Japan's priorities, plans, and activities with the Asia Pacific regional team and global counterparts.・Engage in and contribute to broader regional and global government affairs and policy initiatives.
求められる経験
・Strong track record in policy-related work in organizations such as pharmaceutical companies, government, or consulting.
・Experience in writing and formulating policy-related documents in both English and Japanese.
・Fluency in Japanese and English (oral and written).
・Understanding of the political system and policy development processes.
・Proven ability to master complex regulatory and policy issues and translate them into clear, concise messaging and business-focused actions.
・Strategic thinking, business acumen, and strong analytical skills combined with critical and creative thinking.
・Understanding of healthcare company operations (products, regulations, healthcare system, reimbursement).
・Ability to work collaboratively and establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
・Focus on ensuring communications and activities are consistent with the company’s values and driving integrity and a culture of ethics and compliance in every aspect of work.
・Strong communication skills (oral and written).
・Ability to work well and remain action-oriented in a matrixed organization through a collaborative, teamwork-based approach.
・Forward-leaning attitude and a passion for innovation and turning obstacles into opportunities.
・Ability to connect, lead, shape, and deliver.
・Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA, MPH, or Master’s degree is highly regarded.
