Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices and ensure proper entry into the accounting system.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline invoice processing.
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and address inquiries.
- Set up new vendors and maintain banking details in the accounting systems.
- Manage weekly vendor payments with appropriate documentation.
- Assist in accounts payable-related financial reporting.
- Ensure timely filing of supplier invoices.
Accounts Receivable
- Support the Collections Analyst in monitoring aged A/R and reconciling customer statements.
- Help resolve collection issues and trade deduction discrepancies.
- Act as backup for the Collections Analyst as needed.
Accounting
- Maintain accurate journals, ledgers, and records of financial transactions.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare daily bank reconciliations.
- Ensure month-end reconciliation of Bank, A/R, and A/P accounts.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of HST returns.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with external audits.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Finance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or a similar role, ideally within the distribution or manufacturing sectors.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of accounting principles; proficiency with Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP and pivot tables) and QuickBooks.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in managing financial data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with team members and vendors.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and maintaining order in a fast-paced environment.
